Rebuilding Hydro Power Project in Africa
1) The generating station was built in the year 1952 to 1957
& was completely destroyed during the war.
2) The Hydro power generation was in two phase. Phase I the capacity of 11MW from the 03 generator connected
to common bus of 6.3 KV. The produce voltage was step up by the transformers to
the 120 KV level for transmission to the substation at about 87 kms transmission line of 120 KV.
3) The phase II was having two generators of the capacity of
8.5MW, 6.3 KV. There is a possibility for the third generator.
4) With the phase I (11MW) & II (17MW), the total capacity
of the project will be 29MW & with extension of 6th generator
it will be 37.5MW power generation.
5) The power produced from the phase I was supplied to a power utility and surrounding industries. The
transmission line is 87 kms long and made of copper
conductor throughout the length. The transmission line is passing a side by the
road and it is damaged at many places. If the electricity transmission is
required through the same line then the complete line is to be rehabilitated. Tree
cutting & cleaning is required before starting the work for almost 80% of
its complete length. The poles are ok and can be used for the same line.
Conductor is of copper and needs to be replaced with the Aluminum conductor
with required hard wares.
6) The substation is completely destroyed and it requires
rebuilding with all new equipments. However we can use the building and other
civil structure if matched with the new design.
Scope for the Engineering Consultants will be as under:
1. Carry out walk through inspection of
the generation station to assess the physical condition of the power plant equipment,
structures & building.
2. Scope of inspection will start from
River, Dam/Barrage, generating station & substation up to the transmission
line first pole. This will include the civil, mechanical & electrical
engineering (combined study).
3. Prepare specifications for any tests
and inspections if required to be carried out. You will appoint the agencies to
carry out the required tests / inspections and provide the test results to us for
review. If required by you our experts can be present to monitor the tests /
inspections.
4. Based on the information
collected during the walk through inspection and with review of the test
results, we will prepare a report with cost estimate for rehabilitation of the
Power Generation Station.
The assessment for
rehabilitation of the Transmission Line is not in the scope for this assignment
and the same will be carried out by you.
River &
dam/barrage: study to know the potential of generating capacity and civil
engineering.
Generating station & substation:
Rehabilitation to generate the required power includes civil, mechanical &
electrical engineering.
